Hello. My name is Noel Chenier.
I have a passion for photography, and I love infecting other people with that passion.
I live in Quispamsis, New Brunswick, Canada, and currently work as full-time photography instructor at the New Brunswick College of Craft and Design. Previously, I spent almost twenty years as an award-winning photographer for the New Brusnwick Telegraph-Journal newspaper. I’ve also released an awesome app to help inspire photographers, the Learn Photo365 Photography Assignment Generator.
About me…well, I received a Diploma of Fine Craft in Photography from the New Brunswick College of Craft and Design in 1997. Soon after graduating, I became a full time freelance photographer, and in April of 1998 I was hired by the New Brunswick Telegraph Journal, as their staff photographer. Over my career, I’ve covered a broad range of subjects, including peace keeping in war-torn Bosnia-Herzegovina, Kosovar refugees, royal visits, leadership conventions, and major sporting events. My work has appeared in newspapers, magazines, online, and exhibited across the world. You can check out some of my favs at www.noelchenier.ca
Along with my full-time position, I teach a variety of courses for the general public. I have also taught and lectured at New Brunswick College of Craft and Design, the University of New Brunswick, and St Thomas University. I have a Bachelor of Adult Education and a Masters of Education from the University of New Brunswick, so for those concerned about academic credentials, check!
Teaching Philosophy
I believe you must truly love what you teach to be a great teacher. I have a deep passion for photography, and I want to infect my students with that passion and entusiams, no matter what aspect of photography they are interested in.
Every learner is different, and I use as many teaching methods in my courses as I can. Using lecture, demonstrations, visuals, concrete examples, practice, and hands on learning, I cover as many learning styles as possible to ensure a quality learning experience for all my students.
I see my role as a resource, a facilitator, and a mentor. My skills, knowledge, and experiences are a well for students to draw from to further their development.
